Located 20 km from Vadnagar, Taranga Hill Wildlife Sanctuary spreads over an area of 98 square kilometres. It is home to various flora and fauna. This sanctuary is the best spot for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.
Taranga Hill Wildlife Sanctuary is named after Taranga Hill, the highest peak in the region. You can enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding region from here. One of the popular temples in this sanctuary is the Taranga Jain temple. It was believed to have been built during the 12th century.
Reaching the hilltop involves a trek. On reaching the hilltop, you can find small shrines dedicated to the Buddhist Goddess, Devi Taranamata. In cave formations, you can find weathered terracotta images of Buddha and four carved statues of Dhyani Buddha on a stone plate.
The Taranga Jain temple is further up from here. The sanctuary also has several other interesting temples, including the Kumbharia Jain temple and Surya Mandir.
