The three-day-long event is celebrated in Jaisalmer the first two days in Jaisalmer city and the last one day in Sam Sand Dunes of Jaisalmer Desert.

- There are vibrant puppet shows, folk music and dance, camel races, camel polo matches, tug of war, juggling events, turban tying, and a competition for the longest mustache.
- Participants dress up in vibrant traditional attire and showcase the best of Rajasthani folk culture and traditions.
- The Jaisalmer Desert Festival includes a presentation of Gair dance forms and folk fire dances.
- The Maru Sri or Mr. Desert Pageant is a unique competition for men that draws both locals and international visitors.
- There are numerous stalls selling handicrafts and local trinkets, as well as numerous food stalls serving the best of authentic local cuisine.

The Festival starts at 8:30 am with Aarti followed by Shobha Yatra, Performances by Artists, Cultural Programmes, workshops, camel activities, a fireworks display, and finally the Desert Symphony by great singers.
