Lalit Kala Akademi, set up in 1954 and registered in 1957, is India’s national academy for visual arts.
The academy was conceived by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad in order to preserve traditional art while supporting modern artists.
The Akademi organises exhibitions, workshops, camps and lectures to promote diverse art forms.

National Exhibition Of Art
The National Exhibition of Art, began in 1955, is Lalit Kala Akademi’s most well-known annual event showcasing key visual art developments of the year.
It has grown and evolved over time—from selecting best works in its first edition to introducing major awards, including the Akademi’s Gold Plaque from 1956 onwards.

The next National Exhibition of Art is set to take place in 2026. Exact dates to be announced soon.
If you are 25 years and above then you can submit your entry online or offline by December 30, 2025.
Entry forms are available at the LKA Headquarters in New Delhi, its Regional Centres, State Academies, and can also be downloaded from lalitkala.gov.in.
