Located on the banks of the Adyaar River, Tholkappia Poonga is a protected ecological zone. It is an excellent spot for nature lovers and walkers. The main highlights are its lush greenery and restored wetlands, and the park covers about 58 acres.

Within Tholkappia Poonga in Adyar, there are small stone sculptures of butterflies, insects, lizards, snakes, and other reptiles. The park features a short walking track of 1.3 km and a longer track of 3.2 km. Benches are available throughout the park for visitors to rest.

Numerous activities are offered here to educate children about wildlife. The best time to visit is during the winter, from November to February. Viewpoints are also available to enjoy the scenery and observe birds. A cafe is available at the entrance to enjoy refreshments.
