Varadharaja Perumal Temple Pondicherry History
Cholas constructed the Varadharaja Perumal Pondicherry. Later, the Pandyas took over it. This temple has an interesting history dating back to the 11th century. It was believed to be constructed in honor of Lord Rama and his family. The statues here were being brought by sea. The Narasimha Swamy idol was found before the statues reached the location. That is how the temple got its prime presiding location.
