The Pykara River is the biggest river in the district. It starts at Mukurthi peak. The river flows down in a series of waterfalls, with the last two falls being 55 meters and 61 meters high, known as Pykara Falls.
Pykara Lake is about 21 kilometers from Ooty on the Ooty-Mysore road. Boating on the lake is fun, and there's a restaurant nearby. Wenlock Downs, a large grassy meadow on the way to Pykara, is a popular spot for picnics and is often used as a filming location.
The Pykara Falls is home to one of the oldest power plants, serving as a hydroelectricity provider for a significant population.

Pykara Waterfalls Parking
There is no designated parking area at the falls. Visitors must find roadside parking for their vehicles. Once parked, a short walk is required to reach Pykara Waterfall.
You can also take a battery car from the parking to the Pykara Waterfall entrance for Rs. 20 Per person. From the Entrance Trek for about 15 minutes to reach the Waterfall.
Pykara Lake Boat House
The boat house is about 2.5 km away from Pykara waterfalls. At the entry to the boat house, you will have to pay a vehicle entry fee. Pykara Boat House is maintained by TTDC and is open from 10 am to 5:30 pm.
