History of Mehrangarh Fort
Raja Rao Jodha laid the fort’s foundation in 1459 A.D. It was when he moved his capital from the Mandore fort to a place in the rocky hill called Bhakurcheeria. As per legend, Rao Jodha compelled a hermit, Cheeria Netaji, who lived on this hill, to leave. He requested the help of Karna Mata, a powerful saint, to help him. Cheerai Netaji left the hill when Karna Mata asked. But he left with a curse that the kingdom would never flourish.
