Located near the Karla Caves, the Ekvira Temple is a must-visit spot in Lonavala, Maharashtra. It is the prime spot of worship for Aagri-Koli people. The main deity here is the Aai Ekvira, the tribal goddess worshipped by the Agri community.
Before starting the trek, you will reach Ekvira Paitha Temple from where the stairs to Ekvira Temple begin. It is said that for devotees who could climb the mountains, the goddess resides here below to give them her darshan.
From the Paitha Temple, you need to climb more than 500 stairs to reach the Ekvira Temple. On the way to the temple, you will find shops selling snacks, cool drinks, chaats, and tea. Panch Paduka temple is located midway before climbing the 500 steps. There is an idol of the mother’s foot here.

Ekvira Temple History
It was believed that the Ekvira temple was built by the Pandavas when they visited here during their 14-year-long exile. The Goddess Ekvira once appeared before them and demanded that a temple should be built here before dawn. They built a temple overnight. The goddess is believed to be the avatar of Renuka Devi according to Hindu mythology.
