Nurpur Fort History
Formerly known as Dharmeri fort, it was built in the 11th century. It was the seat of power during the period of King Raja Basu. At that time, the city was named Dharmeri. The city got its name, Nurpur, after the visit of Nur Jahan. The fort was destroyed by the British and then by the earthquake in 1905.
