Located 30 km from Amritsar, the Wagah Border in Punjab is a must-visit spot. It is a boundary that separates India and Pakistan. You can find the Indian flag on one side and the Pakistani flag on the other side here.

Both countries' flags are lowered in seamless coordination after the parade. The border gate is opened after the flags are lowered and folded. It ends with a brief handshake between the soldiers of both countries. The border and the gate are formally closed until sunrise.

History of Wagah Border, Punjab
The Wagah border was established when the country was divided into India and Pakistan. It has become an army outpost today. Though the relations between these countries have been tense, the ceremony has been in practice since 1959.
Points to Note
- Arrive 2 to 3 hours early to secure a good seat.
- Avoid carrying power banks, chargers, earphones, and earbuds as they are not allowed.
- Don’t take luggage and travel bags as they are not allowed.
- Carry a valid government ID proof
- No drones and professional cameras allowed.
- Don’t cross restricted areas
- In case you have any bags you will be required to deposit them near the auto stand.
- You can carry baby food in plastic bags .
- You will be required to walk a long distance to reach the parade venue.
- You can carry chips, cold drinks and other snacks.
- Snacks and water bottles are sold inside the venue also.

Please note that you will not be allowed to carry any bags inside. You will have to deposit them in the shops near the auto stand. You will also be required to pay for parking whether you travel by your own vehicle or by auto.
